End of an Era

What a way to go out.

This blog entry about last night's 15 inning game was the final one that Brett Christopherson made as the beat writer of the Timber Rattlers.

Brett let me know awhile ago that he would soon be promoted at the Post-Crescent. Yesterday was his last official game as the beat writer of the Rattlers.

Oh, he'll be around from time to time and he has a profile of Del Howell for the Sunday Post-Crescent. He just - for the first time since 2004 (excepting a long stretch in the second half of 2008) - won't be here every day.

I gave him grief as the erstwhile Timber Rattlers beat writer during that long absence in '08. When he came back, he became the prodigal beat writer. Then, he was the once and future beat writer. Now, he is beat writer emeritus.

We were lucky to have Brett as a beat writer. Other teams in the Midwest League don't receive the regular (and in-depth) coverage that Brett provided.

I have been told that the PC will still be out here and there will still be the coverage. But, it won't be Brett.

You can pop by Brett's twitter account http://twitter.com/PCBrettC to drop him a line.

I am fortunate to have thanked Brett in person after the marathon last night. I am also fortunate enough to have this blog to say this in public.

Thank you, Brett.
